Gesture Line

This type of drawing is basically the opposite of a contour line. Whereas contour lines are the edges of the subject, gesture drawings are more freely flowing and about the mass of an object.

In this gesture, you can see that it is all about the general idea of the figures, in comparison to the obvious attention to details in contour drawings.

Gestures are often used to depict action and movement, as in this drawing.
